Training begins in northern Israel to prepare forces for “offensive plans”

Long War -

The Israel Defense Forces conducted airstrikes inside Lebanon after Hezbollah carried out a rocket attack targeting Kiryat Shmona that killed one person. The IDF announced training for ground and air forces in northern Israel that will include “massive, long-range strikes, flying deep into enemy territory, and surprise exercises."

Israel’s Minister of Defense in Washington for key meetings

Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant is on a multi-day visit to Washington, D.C, where he has met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Meanwhile, Israel conducted airstrikes deep in Lebanon in response to rocket fire from Hezbollah that targeted an IDF base on Mount Meron in northern Israel.

We contracted with an independent public accounting firm to audit the financial statements of the Board as of and for the years ended December 31, 2023 and 2022, and to audit the Board's internal control over financial reporting as of December 31, 2023. We reviewed and monitored the work of the firm to ensure compliance with applicable auditing standards and the contract.

In the firm's opinion, the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Board, and the Board maintained effective internal control over financial reporting.

Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council Financial Statements as of and for the Years Ended December 31, 2023 and 2022, and Independent Auditors' Report

The Board performs the accounting function for the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, and we contracted with an independent public accounting firm to audit the FFIEC's financial statements as of and for the years ended December 31, 2023 and 2022. We reviewed and monitored the work of the firm to ensure compliance with applicable auditing standards and the contract.

In the firm's opinion, the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the FFIEC.

Hamas launches rockets at major Israeli cities

Long War -

Hamas launches rockets at Ashdod and Ashkelon, two large Israeli coastal cities. The IDF says the rockets fired at Ashdod were fired from Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. The IDF continued to operate at Shifa hospital, detaining more terrorist suspects. In southern Gaza, Israeli forces struck dozens of targets.

The CFPB offers health, vision, and dental benefits to employees and their qualified dependents.

The CFPB's internal reviews have found some discrepancies in enrollments and eligibility for dental and vision benefits, such as delayed removal of dependents who exceed age eligibility requirements. The agency has updated its policies and procedures to address the causes of these issues but can further improve controls through regular monitoring and reviews and by updating related procedures and training.

This report includes recommendations.

Results of Security Control Testing of a Videoconferencing Platform Used by the CFPB

FED OIG -

The CFPB uses a videoconferencing platform that enables real-time collaboration to connect employees and virtual teams.

Selected security controls tested for the videoconferencing platform are operating effectively. For example, the CFPB ensured that privileged accounts are provisioned, managed, and reviewed in accordance with the principles of least privilege and separation of duties. In addition, the CFPB performs quarterly security control assessments of the videoconferencing platform. Our report includes one item for management's consideration related to monitoring the videoconferencing platform's chat communications.
