DEA to hold 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With opioid overdose deaths increasing during the pandemic, the Drug Enforcement Administration is holding its 20th Take Back Day on Saturday, April 24th. DEA’s October 2020 Take Back Day brought in a record-high amount of expired, unused prescription medications, with the public turning in close to 500 tons of unwanted drugs. Over the 10-year span of Take Back Day, DEA has brought in more than 6,800 tons of prescription drugs.

San Diego Man Sentenced to 188 Months in Fentanyl Overdose Death

SAN DIEGO – Jeffrey Alden Blair was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Battaglia to 188-months in prison for supplying the fentanyl that led to the fatal overdose of 45-year old Derrick Hotchkiss, a long-time rugby player for the San Diego Old Aztecs Rugby Football Club. Through his plea agreement, Blair admitted that the fentanyl he dealt caused Hotchkiss’ death and that he knowingly sold in excess of 400 grams of fentanyl.

DEA 360 Maine and Partners Host Two Day Virtual Town Hall Summit

PORTLAND, ME – The New England Field Division’s (NEFD) DEA 360 Maine program has partnered with Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), Somerset Public Health and Healthy Sebasticook Valley Drug Free Coalition to address some local concerns and facilitate discussions surrounding those topics. This FREE Virtual Adult Town Hall Summit will be held April 13th and 14th from 3:30pm – 5:00pm and is open to all parents, educators, community members and anyone who wishes to learn more about how to become more involved in constructing a healthy safer community. 

DEA’s Strong Partnerships in South Dakota Result in Higher Drug Seizures for 2020

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) saw a jump in drug seizures across South Dakota in 2020, as compared to 2019, with methamphetamine topping the list of most commonly seized drugs at 150 pounds. By comparison, in 2019, DEA investigators seized 29 pounds of methamphetamine, half the weight of South Dakota’s largest 2020 single seizure weighing 59 pounds.

Methuen Man Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison for Fentanyl Distribution

BOSTON –  DEA New England Division Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Boyle and Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell announcement today that Alexsander Padro, 28, of Methuen, MA was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV to eight years in prison and four years of supervised release. 

Woman Pleads Guilty for her Role in Narcotics Conspiracy Operation in the Jamestown, NY Area

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan, New York Division announced today that Kylie Reeves, 28, of Jamestown, NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $10,000,000 fine.  

Duplin County Methamphetamine Trafficker Receives More than 11 Years in Federal Prison

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Jason Hyland, 39, of Duplin County, was sentenced yesterday to 134 months in prison for Conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine.

Seattle –Twenty-one people were arrested today on indictments and criminal complaints charging an extensive drug dealing conspiracy by defendants who often illegally possessed firearms, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Tessa M. Gorman. Law enforcement teams from FBI, DEA, Seattle Police Department, and other public safety organizations executed about ninety search warrants across the Puget Sound region from as far north as Everett and as far south as Spanaway.

Fredonia Man Going to Prison for Selling Crack Cocaine

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan, New York Division announced today that Nathaniel Gates, Jr, 47, of Fredonia, NY, who was convicted of possessing with intent to distribute, and distributing, 28 grams or more of crack cocaine, was sentenced to serve 84 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Georgetown Pharmacy to Pay $24,500 to Resolve Claims of Recordkeeping Requirement Failure

Columbia, South Carolina - Acting United States Attorney M. Rhett DeHart announced today that his office has resolved claims that RPh Now, LLC d/b/a/ The Medicine Shoppe of Georgetown failed to abide by recordkeeping requirements of the Controlled Substances Act.  RPh Now, LLC will pay $24,500 to resolve the claims and agrees to comply with heightened reporting requirements for a two-year period.
