CBL/BFL gang member sentenced for racketeering conspiracy and selling crack cocaine in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. –U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan announced that Larquon Watkins, 27, of Buffalo, New York who was convicted of racketeering conspiracy and distribution of crack cocaine, was sentenced to serve 57 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo, Jr.

Rite Aid to pay $4.75 million to resolve allegation that it violated federal law

ALBANY, N.Y. - Retail drugstore chain Rite Aid, which operates more than 2,000 pharmacies in 18 states, will pay the United States a $4.75 million penalty to resolve allegations that its employees, in violation of the Controlled Substances Act, recorded false or incomplete information about customers who purchased tens of thousands of products containing pseudoephedrine.

DEA takes additional steps to allow increased production of controlled substances used in COVID-19 care

WASHINGTON – The Drug Enforcement Administration announced today that it is increasing Aggregate Production Quotas available to pharmaceutical manufacturers for the production of controlled substance medications that are in high demand due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  DEA will also approve increases in imports of medications necessary for patients on ventilators.

San Diego Tunnel Task Force uncovers sophisticated cross-border drug tunnel under the U.S./Mexico border

St. Petersburg man arrested for drug and firearms offenses

TAMPA. Fla. - Jack Bradley Rice (35, Pinellas Park) has been charged with possessing with the intent to distribute a substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine and for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. If convicted, Rice faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.          

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Postponed

WASHINGTON – The upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2020 is postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  DEA will reschedule Take Back Day for a date shortly after the health crisis recedes and national emergency guidelines are lifted.

St. Louis City man charged with federal drug and firearm charges

ST. LOUIS – Markquis Bryant, aka “Two” 48, of Saint Louis, was charged by a federal complaint with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance; being a felon in possession of one or more firearms; and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Bryant will appear in court on March 27, 2020 for his initial appearance in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Nannette A. Baker.
